iTunes doesn't work in Linux and Apple refuse to support it. It also doesn't work in Wine at all:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1347

The only way you will get this running is to install the closed source virtualbox (for native USB access) and install Windows there. This will require a valid windows licence and install media however.

You may get a very old version running however see here

http://freshtutorial.com/install-itunes-ubuntu-linux/

Also note Ubuntu 10.04 is almost out of support April this year. I recommend upgrading to 12.04

I can't help with installing the old version of itunes as I have never tried hence just the link.

To upgrade you have two options

1. Via update manager or

2. Fresh install

I usually backup and do a fresh install but if you want to upgrade instead there is a good description here

A fresh install will scrub everything. An upgrade should preserve the contents of your home folder.

However, things can go wrong. You should backup everything you need to keep I use an external USB hard disk.

I always backup the following folders

/home
/etc
/usr
/var

Including all sub-folders and hidden before an update - this covers most people but if you have put anything elsewhere you need to back that up too. I also do this every week or so in order to be sure I can recover from a hardware failure

chmod +x /home/jan/Downloads/iTunesSetup\ \(1\).exe
wine /home/jan/Downloads/iTunesSetup\ \(1\).exe

May make it run. It is not know to work. The only real way to get it running is to use the closed source virtualbox from the virtualbox website and install windows, then install itunes there

ALternatively you can ditch Apple stuff and use products from a more open minded company :)

Can you help with this problem?
