Without a third party application , you can use Thunderbird (pre-intalled in Ubuntu) to save your gmail messages in your local directory.

See here how

What link ? mine or @marcobra's ?

I can open both links without a problem.

Right click and "Open link in New Tab"

Thanks

Came out in Launchpad or came out in Thunderbird (maybe you are using Thunderbird or another mail client for Launchpad answers ? )

I see my answer and I see the link as one line , not two lines , and is all linked.

Strange.. :-)

But if you manage to open it , then read the instructions :-)

Thanks

I'm not going to use the instructions pointed to by that link. First thing it says to do is to enable pop. I'm using imap in Thunderbird & do not intend to use pop.

POP and IMAP protocols differences are how the mail-client (eg Thunderbird) will handle the e-mail server (eg. gmail).

I'm using IMAP too ..

But another option exists.. the archive option. Use it to archive the messages you want to the local folder.

Thanks
