newbie oscilloscope program choice

Asked by william delong

two available programs:
                Ll-scope 0.2.1-3
                xoscope 2.0-3.1ubuntu1.0.11.10

I assume either will monitor the input on a laptop?
will it (they) also "monitor" a (file) player output?

would the "xoscope 2.0-3.1ubuntu1.0.11.10" be the better choice since its "for" my version?

I am trying to make wise install choices so I don't have to deal with uninstalling stuff that doesn't do what I want.

I want to record audio to later combine with video because my camcorder mike is real "tinney" and there's no provision for an external Mike. I've had "clipping" issues which only become apparent on playback, and I want to "catch" it live so I can make adjustments "on the fly".

also, being a (first day) newbie, I don't know of any alternative info sources. The program file descriptions were a little lean.
any info will be appreciated.

The packages in the repos are ALL for your release. I suggest you install both and see which you prefer.

Can you help with this problem?
