sofware center will not install software
Unbuntu sofware center will not install software. It shows some software is not loaded, but it is and some is not..

If you close software centre and run:
sudo apt-get update; lsb_release -a
What is output?

Hi ,
try this
~$ sudo apt-key adv --recv-key --keyserver keyserver.
~$ sudo apt-get update
~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
If problem not solved , then try to reinstall Software Center .
~$ sudo apt-get remove --purge software-center
~$ rm -r .cache/
~$ sudo apt-get install software-center ubuntu-desktop
~$ sudo update-

OOPS sorry Mark Rijckenberg... did not notice that and took you word for the duplication... 214504 is about the update manger not working ... its not about the package manager installing software... Question #214710 are different ... questions... Selecting and installing software and updating the OS may use some of the same fuctions.... Well both questions are still open .... if you think its only one problem ... that I can understand..
additionally ... the update started working ... and the package manager was not... so they did seem to be seperate problems.. Look not just thanks in advance for the help ... serious.. but i pledge to help the efforts in the future... So thanks for all.. I am sure that we together can solve this problem ... even if it means ... wipeing off the drive and starting all over again...
