Asked by Ishan A B Ambanwela

Can I use x11 protocol to log in to windows machine from ubuntu machine ?

I usually use rdesktop to log in to windows machine remotely.I want to know can I use other protocols to log in to windows?
I saw that vnc supports.

You can use VNC if you desire, there is zero security in VNC so I wouldn't use it over WAN. Windows doesn't have an X server so you are limited. There is teamviewer too. What are you intending to do on the remote system? There may be a sleeker solution to what you want to achieve.

Actually now I am using rdesktop and it consumes huge band with and when the ping is high it performance is very poor.

I am seeking for an alternative for rdesktop

Actually rather than rdesktop, freerdp uses little bandwidth and comparatively faster than rdesktop.

Remmina uses freerdp.
