Is there tools for Ubuntu to root smart phones?

I was wondering if there is a way to use Ubuntu to root my LG Optimus C ?

You just need to copy the firmware files to the phone, just like you would in Windows.

You will need the Android SDK, it contains the tools required, like adb:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
