Damnvid installed but won't open V12.04

Recently upgraded to 12.04. Looked for Linux friendly video downloader, and Damnvid seemed the best option. Installed, put in applications column. Left mouse does nothing and right mouse identifies program and offers to unlock from panel. That's all.
Any help appreciated.

remove demnvid and re-install from PPA

There are plenty of addons and extensions for web browsers, why not use those. There is also youtube-dl in the ubuntu repos.
