What is the exact purpose of the research software you want to use?

The name of the program is Prest (http://utstat.utoronto.ca/sun/Software/Prest/index.html). It is similar to plink to install but there is no windows version. It is a program to analyze relateness in family-based study.

First make sure you are using the 64-bit version of Ubuntu.

Then open a Terminal and run these commands:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install unp

wget http://utstat.utoronto.ca/sun/Software/Prest/media/prest-plus-v4.09-linux.tar.gz

unp prest-plus-v4.09-linux.tar.gz

cd prest-plus/

./prest

As you will see, it is a command line utility without a graphical interface (as far as I saw)
