Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 for Mine Craft

recently downloaded Ubuntu on my sons laptop. His hard drive crashed, and installed a new harddrive. He plays Mine Craft alot and will not launch in Ubuntu, we keep getting this message: 'Java Run time Environment 1.5.0 is Required'. Have checked Java and other sites and can't figure out how we get this. Any suggestions?

lsb_release -a; uname -a
