Looking for open source "version" of PCKnot.

Asked by Nancy Rose

I'm working on my doctorate and need a program to make cognitive maps of relationships between two or more associative concepts/algorithms.

I run Ubuntu so I was looking for open source "version" of PCKnot (http://interlinkinc.net/KNOT.html). Your pathfinder program looks like it runs as daemon and requires the use of another program... I.E.: It is not a complete replacement for PCKnot. It this correct?

If so, are you aware of a package that functions similarly to PCKnot?

Also, I'm not much of a systems geek and am not sure which pathfinder packages I need to download. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

Thank you.

In terms of layout, then freemind might be up your street.

http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Screenshots

However, im not clear on the algorithms that PCKnot is using to generate those layouts, or what they represent, from reading their description.

Pathfinder bills itself as a X509 certificate trust chain viewer and checker. I don't think that’s what you are looking for, from your description.

Does this make an image of a network using ICMP, I believe nmap can do that if so.

Can you help with this problem?
