avast antivirus program not starting

I have Asus 1015 series laptop with Ubuntu netbook edition operating system
(originally it had win7 starter os)

I Installed Avast antivirus program (linux version) and installation went ok.
When I try to start the program, it doesn't work and I get following message:
"An error occurred in Avast! engine: invalid argument" I've tried my best but
haven't been able to solve the problem.

Anyone know how to fix this and get the program working?

Why not opt for a tried dependable anti virus like Klamav?

go to system and then open main menu, what is the full command to start avast?

If you have just ubuntu installed you don´t need antivirus program,Simple as that.

Thanks, I'll try Clamav and see if it works, The thing is that I tried several linux-compatible antivirus programs, but so far avast was only one that I actually managed to install properly.
