SPSS is a proprietary program; we can't really do much if it is not working having followed the distributor's instructions - you will need to contact your distributor for assistance.

In the mean time, are you familiar with the PSPP package, which is a free replacement for SPSS?

This should be in the package archives, so you can install it very easily.

i've installed pspp, but it's to simple. i didnt get what i expected from spss in pspp. for example the data descriptive analysis, i didnt found wether my data is normally distributed or not in pspp but i found this in spss. Data distribution is the very first step to analyze my research data.

Hi Nucleus,

I had a look, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for normality has only been added in august last year :(.
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=pspp.git;a=commitdiff;h=e30f5e6b6bf7a3b862dacce6b17635e8bf0d909d

This probably hasn't filtered into the latest ubuntu. You could *try* the PPA here:

https://launchpad.net/~gandalf/+archive/pspp

but I don't if think this is sufficiently up-to-date, as the PPA for maverick was last built in June.

There is apparently a KS test in R, but R is not a graphical program, and I have no experience with it.

Sorry for not being more helpful.

Can you help with this problem?
