missing Ubuntu Software Center

Asked by Leo Newburn

I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric. Ubuntu Software Center is missing. I accidentally downloaded and installed Lubuntu Software Center and was told at the forum I can leave it and use it.
How can I add Ubuntu Software Center? My intuition tells me I should have it since I am running Ubuntu and it's likely best to have all programs with the "Ubuntu" name.
Other similar programs listed in my menu are: Synaptic Package Manager, and GDebi Package Installer (I have no clue what that is for yet).

1. Open the terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
sudo apt-get install software-center

3. Try to start it from the dash or insert this command in the terminal:
software-center
