Please i need an anti virus in my machine but i dont know which to install

please for the command prompt for an anti virus I can install in my machine. (I use ubuntu 11.04 though soon 11.10)
secondly, i cannot play VCD video disk. Can you please help with the command prompt for a player that is most effective.

install clamtk antivirus (can by installed from ubuntu software center). you can do it from terminal by typing "sudo apt-get install clamtk". for vcd disks, use VLC ( also available in the software center) if you don't have any other player in use. it is the best.

Please note that ubuntu uses a "trusted software" model. This means that unless you install third party programs from outside the software centre, it is extraordinarily difficult to get a virus on your system. It is recommended to *not* run a virus scanner to improve your system's performance and stability.

This is the same logic as to why you don't need a virus scanner in your car, on your microwave, your alarm clock or any other system -- even on your mobile phone.

However, as the above poster stated, it is possible to install an antivirus software, but it will decrease your systems performance.
