Cannot refresh sources under "All Sources"

Hello,
I'm having trouble installing a package called SuperCollider - https://launchpad.net/~supercollider/+archive/ppa

I have added the PPA in the Other Software tab in Software Sources. But when I go to the Software Center, the new source doesn't appear in the All Software menu. A search for SuperCollider does not find the correct packages.

Also, an old PPA is showing up in the All Software menu. I had added the Spotify PPA, and removed it, but "Spotify Public Repository" still appears in the All Software menu.

How can I have the All Software menu refresh so I can see the software I want to install? Is this a bug with the Software Center?

I tried rebooting, I ran sudo apt-get update, and I tried clicking Check in Update Manager, but these had no effect.

I have Ubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu Software Center 5.0.2ubuntu0.1.

ok then run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:supercollider/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install supercollider

Thanks for trying, but I don't understand. Why would I run add-apt-repository ppa:supercollider/ppa when I already have this repository? All that did was add a duplicate ppa - now I have to clean up

And we already tried sudo apt-get install supercollider - all it gave me was E: Unable to locate package supercollider

I'm going to go ahead and submit a bug for this. Even if we come up with a terminal work around, I think the UI developers should be aware of the issue.

ok, you have 2 entries in the files, as well as you have added it in sources.list

We'll start with:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

And remove the 2 lines with supercollider in, save the new file, close gedit then run:

sudo apt-get update

Is it smooth?

/etc/apt/sources.list didn't have any reference to supercollider. apt-get update is running fine. I had deleted the file that apt-get update was a duplicate.

Then rerun:

sudo apt-get update

Great, now if you run:

sudo apt-get install supercollider

Does it install, if not then run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:supercollider/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install supercollider

And it should install

The problem is that there is no supercollider package. If you look at the package details, you'll see that it failed to build for oneiric.

Right -- I was explaining to the original poster why the packages don't appear, and why continuing to add the repositories won't help.
