How to syncronise system clock to GPS satellite time

Asked by Dave Boniface

I am using a laptop computer with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Just updated.

I am going to a remote location where there is no access to the internet or telephone lines, so I cannot syncronise to NTP.

I will be using a digital radio frequency / time syncronised communication systems, WSJT and WSPR

This communications system must be time syncronised at both end of the communications link, to within several 100 mS or better.

I understand that I can purchase GPS equipment that will output the time data from the received GPS signals.

So, Is there any software that I can install on my laptop that will enable me to be able to read this time data and syncronise the laptop system clock with GPS time.

Regards
Dave Boniface.

Its possible, but not out of the box as far as I am aware.

You can combine ntp with gpsd to set up a local timeserver.

Can you help with this problem?
