Richard, as the Magic Jack software is Windows only, the only way it would work in Ubuntu is with WINE, but as per the recent WINE tests it does not work yet http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=17050&iTestingId=42002

Sorry for the aberrations. We can't use Magic jack in Linux as it is not supported. However we can use workaround for it. But it is not simple. Here are steps you have to do. google the words if you don't understand them.

1. install Virtualbox in ur linux host.

https://www.virtualbox.org/

2. Create a Virtual Machine of Windows XP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine

3. Start your XP virtual machine. Make sure it is connected to internet.

4. Then you connect the Magic jack in you Linux machine . and use the USB device inside the XP virtual machine.

A word of caution, these concepts can be too much for a newbie.

Can you help with this problem?
