removing the star apps banner in ubuntu software center

I've found no way to remove this banner which takes half of my screen.

You can't remove it. Maybe you can but you have to modify the source of the program and recompile it. I suggest you to install and use Synaptic. Its a very nice app. It was installed by default before the Ubuntu Software Center. For install it do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this commands:
sudo apt-get install synaptic

3. Then launch it from the dash or from the menu. Give it a try.

I don't think this is intended. Maybe consider to report a bug and attach a screenshot there in order to let developers or rather design team review it.
