Ubuntu Software Center takes a long time to open
Hi,
I've upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10. I haven't had any problems with it, it seems much more responsive than natty and it seems faster to open up programs (which probably has a lot to do with the windows being drawn before the app has finished loading, which is ok).
Except for Ubuntu Software Center. I have the package version 5.0.14. After clicking on the icon, it flashes for 15 seconds and then takes another 15 seconds to open, which is way more than the Software Center in natty. It's certainly more useful and intuitive for new users, but the amount of times it takes to load is really frustrating! And It's confusing: I clicked the webcam option on the new system top right icon. I thought it wasn't working, so I went back to my work, only to be suddenly greeted 30 seconds later by USC asking me to install Cheese. I've tried reinstalling it using apt-get install --reinstall software-center, but the problem remains.
I'm using Synaptic for now, but new users won't have it or know about it.
But before I file a bug for this, I'd like to know if this is an issue only affecting me or everyone who uses it.
