Please open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
and run this:
lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | egrep "flash|gnash|swf"

then copy and paste here the result.

what are you trying to do? if all you want is to update the flash player to a new version, you don't need to uninstall it. the operating system will do it automatically for you and install the new one.
