my ubuntu software center is not starting.It is showing error "Encountered a problem with package"...Can anyone help me??

1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this commands:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade; sudo apt-get --reinstall install software-center

3. Try to start it with this command:
software-center

then copy and paste here what the terminal says if you have this problem again.

I'm having the same problem. I try the apt-get commands and they seemed to work until the one listed below. I still have the problem of not being able to start the software center from the command line, by using the launcher icon, or by using the icon in the control center. The Update Manager icon in the control center doesn't respond either.
