Install WINE. Here is a guide:

Executables are for windows ONLY. Wine tries to emulate a windows layer, so that these programs can run.

Just remember that WINE is not a magic bullet -- it is a best effort program that has a wide range of compatibility with windows programs, but it is not, and probably never will be fully complete, due to the complexity of the task involved. That said, its surprisingly good.

It would be helpful if you can let us know which program you are trying to install, as many programs (but not all) provide non-windows binaries (executables). Using a native version of the program you want to run will be superior to running it under wine.
