ubuntu software center not updating cache.

Asked by brittomail.com

I formated my system and installer ubuntu11.04.
so at first i tried to update the software using ubuntu software center. but it shows " waiting for jockey-backend to exit"
and "updating cache" is also waiting. but now it is not showing both the messages also the updating cache is failed. how to update it. now no software is installing. while i tried to install chromium browser it shows this error.

Result:

Package dependencies cannot be resolved
This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

chromium-browser: Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but 1:4.5.2-8ubuntu4 is to be installed
Depends: libxdamage1 (>= 1:1.1) but 1:1.1.3-1ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: zlib1g (>= 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg) but 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libnss3-1d (>= 3.12.3) but it is not going to be installed

while iam trying to install vlc player also it shows some dependencies.
pls help.

at last it show like this: after sudo apt-get update

Fetched 1 B in 32s (0 B/s)
W: Failed to fetch
gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/in.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages

ones used instead.

i think sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

this command will work but it will download 229MB but my net
connection is not that much fast.
