Is there a way to run a virus scan on ubuntu ? Also a scan to clean up old files or double files ? Besides computer janitor

I'm new to Linux

 I would like to clean up the hard drive, & speed up the computer any Ideas ?

You can run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-clamav/ppa ; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install clamtk clamav; sudo apt-get clean; sudo freshclam

You can now virus scan using clamtk. You can clean up the system with bleachbit too. Watch the settings for browser as it will remove settings you want, also have as many apps closed as you can and avoid options which will take a long time. If you want the OS to be faster you can use a lighter desktop like LXDE which uses less RAM.
