checkers/draughts program does not install properly

Asked by Steven Ray

I install a program (available through the Software Center) called Kcheckers .the software center tells me it is installed. I clicked on the installed software category to see that it was. Yet, it does not appear in the Games submenu nor does it appear anywhere else.
I removed it through the software center and tried to install it again. Same thing happened. Any ideas?

Install the app then log off and on, it should be ok. There is a more graceful way but it escapes me

Thanks Andrew,

I tried your suggestion but nothing happened.. the software center says that the game is installed but it doesn't show up anywhere.

Ok run it using ALT+F2 and typing it's name, when it appears in the Unity panel right click it and select keep in panel

Alt-F2 worked perfectly. do I have a Unity panel somewhere? I'm running
lucid. isn't Unity a part of Natty ?

Yeah, thought you'd be on Natty. You can run:

alacarte

and add the menu item wherever you desire. Should update immediately :)

You could also report a bug stating that it doesn't make a menu item.

the program did not show up in alacarte so I will just use Alt-F2 and report a bug. Thanks Andrew!

yes, the idea of running alacarte is so YOU can add the item yourself...
