I'm trying to install adobe flash onto UBuntu 11.04, I'm using a live USB. Is it even possible?

Asked by Ned Simpson

I go to software center

search for adobe flash plugin for mozilla

click install, the error message appears.

"The following packages have unmet dependencies:

flashplugin-installer: Depends: ia32-libs (>= 2.2ubuntu18) but it is not going to be installed"

Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks.

It is possible to do ANYTHING in liveCD you can do in an installed OS except reboot.

 I don't understand what the
output of lsb_release -a; uname -a is

but if you can still help it'd be much appreciated.

Well it's surprising that Ned couldn't follow Actionparsnip's instructions yet could follow this poor method to install flash.
I recommend you do not install flash from PPA if you prefer sanity to your package installations.
This was handy when it was still 'beta' but for non-beta you shouldn't follow this.

Updating will not be any fun.

Get.adobe.com will detect your linux and AMD64 requirements and install a working flash without adding PPA's.

Cheers.
