software center issue

Nothing comes up when I search for things in the software center....ever. I've had it open, searching for about 25 minutes right now, and nothing comes up. It does this for anything that I search for. What can I do to get it to start actually finding programs that I'd like to use?

Did you update your repository?

sudo apt-get update
