Email contact at Canonical for getting a paid app into the USC

Asked by 982c80311320c1b

I wrote a mail to the Puppygames team to ask whether they could submit their games to the USC. Their answer:

"Hi Alexander,

we've tried but they won't reply to our emails.

Cas :)"

So who could they contact directly to finally get the games into the USC?

Do you know someone at Canonical who could help?

Thanks

Alex

Does this also apply for proprietary packages?

Since the games in question are proprietary payware, they would not meet the requirements of the Licensing Policy as linked to at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages. Therefore, as you suspected, that would indeed *not* be a proper procedure for getting them made available (and for purchase, no less) through the Ubuntu Software Center. (Some proprietary software can be provided in Ubuntu's multiverse component, which is covered at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages, but redistributability is a requirement for inclusion there.)

Unfortunately, I don't actually know the answer to your question. (You may want to reopen it, i.e., change its status back from Answered to Open, so that people can see you're still asking for help. There's a button for that on this question page.)

Your question might be easier to answer if you were to specify what email address the Puppygames team did try sending mail to. Then we can search for that email address, see what it's for (or, if it belongs to an individual, who the individual is), and determine if it's the appropriate address.

I asked, but they couldn't remember. But a few hours ago, this post was published on the Canonical blog: http://voices.canonical.com/isd/?p=167

Guess I'll just have to wait
