For the chat functionality, you can always use Pidgin. But for voice, I use Skype. Two different applications doing different functions but I for one can not use Pidgin for talking.

HTH.

Look at aMSN in Software Centre - cannot remember if this does talk now without checking. Set up gmail - this will do talk and video in Ubuntu

I only started experimenting with this when aMSN was forced to stop video chat (when MSN shut down a server). I have been successful with gmail from Ubuntu to Ubuntu computers and from Ubuntu to Windows XP computer. My first attempt to go from gmail on an Ubuntu computer to Messenger on an XP computer did not work but I intend trying again. The blurb within gmail does say that it will only work from gmail to gmail, but then they would say that. So I guess it is a case of try it and see what happens.

Can you help with this problem?
