installing new games on ubuntu 11.04

New to this software "ubuntu" Maybe I installed the wrong type. I am trying to get away from Microsoft operating system.
I have a newer system and would like to play most modern games like Battlefield bad co 2 and so on. I tried installing a few game earlier but could not get them to install. Any help would be grate. Thanks

Not all games run. You may find native installers for the game. You may find luck with wine too. Check the appdb for compatibility:

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (please don't abbreviate non-standard things like that please) gets a garbage rating:

So will not run in Wine nor does it work in Cedega (a paid for version of wine with some extra features and nicenss):

Some games play beautifully, Like Doom3 and Counterstrike source which have been reported to pull MORE frames than under Windows. There are also native games like the penumbra series and Urban Terror :)
