Software Update Center Not Running in Ubuntu 11 64 Bit While Source List is Fine

Asked by Salik Mahmud

Hello Everyone! I am Running Ubuntu-11 64 Bit on a Dell Inspiron1564 Machine. The Ubuntu Update Center Has Generated Some Problem for Last 4 Days, When I Try to Update My Ubuntu It Checks for Available Files and Give Somewhere around 252 Updates Available But When I Go For Installation of These Packages It Says This action would require installatiion of packages from unauthenticated source. I have Tried a Number of solutions available here on launchpad including the change of main server and Checking the Source list for any invalid entry like tytyty. But Neither The Server Change Helped Nor the Source List Contains any such entry.

The Problem persists and is annoying as I cant Update.

Any Step By Step Help Will Really be Appreciated.

Best Regards

Now, it is possible to upgrade from CD, while keeping user files. When you boot from CD, choose "Upgrade".

After going clear to the top I see
Distributor ID: LinuxMint
Description: Linux Mint 12 LXDE
Release: 12
Codename: lisa

So how do I remove the Linux Mint 12 LXDE
Do I just insert 12.04 LTS in and UPDATE / UPGRADE ?

You will need to remove Mint and reinstall with Ubuntu.
