Can I use purchased software on other computers?

Asked by hmyllyko

Couldn't find this covered in the Ubuntu Software Center help.

If I buy software from Ubuntu's software center, will I be able to download and use it on other machines that run Ubuntu? I.e. if I buy software using my netbook, will that software be accessible for my desktop as well (via the software center/purchase tool) or do I need to purchase it again for another machine?

All the applications purchased through the Ubuntu Software Centre will be linked to your UbutuOne SSO account (You have to configure it manually) allowing you to re-download the item at a later date on any Ubuntu installed system or if you re-install Ubuntu, etc.

I suggest you check the license. There may be some which may permit it, others may have a per-system licensing style.

That's my guess, others may know better

Unable to find something sufficient which describes licensing, which fee goes to Canonical, which criteria software needs to fulfill and so on.
