Natty 11.04 Alpha 3+ " I cannot get the Ubuntu Software Center to start."

Asked by David Evans

I have tried to get the Ubuntu Software Center to sart and it does not start at all. I noticed a recent update package for this, which I did update to via Synaptic. I attempted again, still would not start. I am using the Unity Applications Menu icon.

Log a bug.

Natty is NOT stable and NOT ready. If you want a half working OS and want to log bugs to help get Natty ready for it's Aprilrelease, then use it. If you need your OS to work as you expect then use Maverick or Lucid.

The OS isn't even in beta stages yet, what did you expect.

You can start the bug logging with:

ubuntu-bug software-center

Actionparsnip is correct, if somewhat sharper about it than usual. If you need to update at this point, you'll have to do it from the command-line if you can't get the relevant program up in the GUI. If you can't do that, then you should probably not be running the alpha version.

My mistake. I apologize. :( I should have looked for another way to file a bug report, when the "bug Report" window did not pop-up, on my attempt to open the software center. I shall start the bug logging. I shall also take your advice under consideration. I thank you kindly and I appreciate you.

I thank you. That is some sound, good advice. I think you are right. Thank you.
