I can't remove sw applications via Ubuntu SW Center

Asked by Doug Abner

After installing various software from the Ubuntu Software Center, when I then choose to remove some of them the Ubuntu Software Center's REMOVE command will not remove the previously properly installed software.

Please help,
Doug

If no one objects, I'm removing the link to bug 142960, which is a bug in an unrelated package, with incomplete status, from almost seven years ago. It doesn't seem to have anything at all to do with this question.

you can easily remove software via the synaptic package manager that can be found in system>administration.

in the quick finder, type the name of the package you want removed, then select complete removal, then click the big green checkmark.

I finally tried a reboot. It worked. Apparently the OS was automatically updated and this somehow prevented removing and SW while still allowing the installation of new SW. Anyway, a reboot solved the problem.

Thanks,
