Flipshare is a windows/mac app for video editting. There are TONNES of video editors available for Linux. You should use those. Once you get the device mounted as a storagr device, you can do as you wish.

Can you have the device attached and powered on etc then run:

sudo parted -l

What is output

Hi- thanks for your response.

I dont know what you mean by this:

"Can you have the device attached and powered on etc then run:

sudo parted -l

What is output"

When I plug it into the usb this window opens:

"You have just inserted a medium with digital photos. Choose what application to launch.

Select how to open "FLIPVIDEO" and wheather to preform this action in the future for other media of type "digital photos."

Choices from the drop down menu are:

Open F-Spot
Do Nothing
Open Folder
Open Wine Windows Program Loader
Open with other application

I- I loaded VLC, MPlayer and GNOME to see if it would open in these- but nothing happened. Another window was open that said MEDIA - FILE BROWSER it shows FLIPVIDEO and then I click on that and one of the folders is DCIM and I open this and then the videos are there inside a folder called 100VIDEO and when I click on this and then the videos are there. I then copied them to the VIDEO file on the prenamed file under PLACES.

So- how do I open one of the video editors now that I have them saved to the computer. When I open up the video- it is opened by Media Player- is this default and how can I get it to open in another video editor- and which ones are the best/most features?

Thanks- look forward to feedback from anyone.

Happy Thanksgiving- Liane (a new LINUX user)

You need to run the command I gave and provide the output so we can see what partitions are seen.

Thanks

The snap and grab things are part of the Windows software, unless the software runs via wine you will not get this and you will be using Linux softwares to do stuff. If the player doesn't use industry standard codecs (I'd be surprised if it does) then you may need windows to accommodate your device
