If you still get stuck on this, please post again. If you know the model of the computer or more specifically the CPU type (32-bit /64bit) that would be useful to help you through the process.

@ mycae..Thanks. I just tried that website but there is an error message that keeps popping up that will not allow me to further in the process of downloading flash player. The error message states: dhttp://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu' is not known on line 54 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
I am not sure what this means

please don't cross-post in two threads, it makes communicating hard, because the conversation becomes fragmented

Your apt sources.list has been corrupted. Please continue referring to this in Question #132631.

Dametria,
the output is ok, you're in admin group, hence allowed to install apps.
Cause for the request was:
>I try to download adobe flash player, it won't allow me<

So anyway, as suggested on duplicate question, open your sources.list via CLI and correct line #54.

Ok so I corrected the problem on line 54 but when I download it, it gives the error statement package 'adobe-flashplugin' is virtual.

I have tried numerous time via software center to download Adobe Flash Plug-in onto my 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10. It says "available from "maverick-partner" source, so I selected "Use this Source", then I supply the requested authenticate password, then it show "In progress arrows circulating, then I get nothing. What am I doing wrond?
