Can you reboot then give the output of:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade

Thanks

Could you try this please?
Instead of running Software Center from the icon, could you open a terminal (in the accessories, or by pressing CTRL+ALT+T), type :

software-center

Then try to install a software, and check in the terminal for error messages. Copy paste them here, and we can maybe help.

Ok, I think I understand:

when you download a software to install, the install package is checked to see if it's the real one (and not a fake one containing a virus for instance). To check this, Ubuntu is using signature keys. However, your keys does not seem correct, so ubuntu is just saying "hmmm, I can't check the package validity, it's not very safe to install this".

What you should do is to delete and download the official keys again.
try this:
open the update manager
click on "configuration"
then "authentication" I think
there should be a button to restore the default keys.

sudo apt-key adv --recv-key --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 40976EAF437D05B5

Will import the key you are missing, you have added a repo but not its key.
