mp3 plugin installation failed

i tried to install mp3 plugin via rhythmbox music player as it showed me whether to search for missing plugins.
as it showed the missing mp3 plugin, it asked for download.. then a dialogue box opened stating updating cache.. after sometime it said no package is found... installation failed.. wat shld i do nw? kindly help on this issue..

if you install:

ubuntu-restricted0-extras

You will be able to play MP3. Also if you add the medibuntu repo and install:

vlc gnome-mplayer w32codecs

You should be able to play nearly anything

gsteamer bad and ugly are needed, why using this mp3 "plugin".
