Closed Source section of Software Center

Asked by Daniel Hendrycks

Hi, could you add an option (probably not default) to include closed source software in the Ubuntu Software Center?
If this was an option I would not have to open up the browser and go from site to site getting the software I want. (e.g. Opera)

Could this be considered in the next version (remember, disabled by default)?

You can add the opera ppa with this terminal commands

http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppas/15

Then you will get opera available to install and it will be keep updated by the system

I am aware I can get it, Opera was an example. There is other closed source applications, too. I am just asking you let there be an option so users can get closed source software seamlessly, something the Software Center was designed to do.

Should I contact Canonical,, instead?

@Sam
That did not include any information about closed source being available for download.

I suppose I will take it to the Brainstorm part, but I am quite hesitant because many of the people want others to use open-source only, so my idea is likely to be shot down... should I contact Canonical directly?

Update: Flash is included in the Software Center, and it is closed source. So why can't other closed source apps (that have an actual business behind them, not a team of 4 developers, for example) be included, too?

Can you help with this problem?
