names of midi players in Ubuntu?

Asked by Daan Hoogland

Are there midi players like Noteworthy Composer or Sibelius or Finale (all MS Windows based) programs in Ubuntu?
(I am member of a choir; studying new scores is so much easier with the use of such a program).

Thanks for your help, regards, Daniel

If you open the Software Centre (Applications > Ubuntu Software Centre) and type:
music score
in the search field, you should see what's available. At a glance, NtEd looks the closest to Noteworthy Composer, but there are others (NoteEdit, GNU Denemo, etc.) which might better suit your needs. Most applications in the software centre have a link to their website (if not, a search engine should still be able to help you) so you can get some more details before installing, but there's nothing stopping you from installing and trying out more than one.

New to Ubuntu: read the Ubuntu Manual, it's very informative: http://ubuntu-manual.org/
