How to Install ubuntu on a second cormpute

Asked by gopi

Hello all.
I have Ubuntu 8.04 installed on my desktop computer. and all upgrades up-to-date.
Now I want to install same system on my toshiba laptop (earlier i have installed the same from a CD).
Can I avoid four hours of updating and some how replicate the existing system. I read about cloning some where but am not sure how.

If it takes less than four hours to download a new installation image and burn it to CD, then you could install the latest version, 10.04. You'd still have a few updates to do, but all the upgrades (8.04 > 8.10 > 9.04 > 9.10 > 10.04) would be unnecessary.
