in the software center you can find wine, the even have a dev release which allowed me to install Diablo2 and RosettaStone without having to use winetricks. i suppose you could run VirtualBox, but that seems like over-kill if you want to run a few programs.

Hi :)

If you upgraded from 9.?? to 10.04 then you will need to reinstall Wine. I don't think you need to uninstall it first, just try a reinstall

I can run almost every program with wine. Only the ones using ADO will fail. (Most of them are my own programs written in Delphi)
VirtualBox is another option when wine fails.
