Is there a equivalent program for shockwave?

I am wishing to run interactive sites on the web and I need a shockwave program is there something similiar that will enable me to use these sites?

Shockwave is a windows only plugin afaik and is proprietary. I will scout out more but i don't hold much hope. Most sites use flash now which is more universally available

Thats pretty disapointing but still pretty happy with Ubuntu. Is there also a flash equivelant for ubuntu?

yes, adobe make a flash plugin for Linux. It is installable under ubuntu using:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

You could pressure the shockwave guys to supoprt Linux etc but I think they will just ignore it.
