Why was the download percentage when installing snaps removed from snap core in version 3440?

I was making use of this percentage to display a progress bar in a script that I am working on for installing snaps, but today it just disappeared? Why was this change made?

Actually, still a problem. I cannot get the percentage reliably anymore due to this change.
