If you report a bug stating the bug and security issues that are fixed in the new version then the package may be updated sooner rather than later. The package was only out last month and Bionic is an LTS release. Packages in LTS releases change very little and stability is champion over new packages.

Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and it is quite rare for Ubuntu to have the most recent version of packages.
