web cam not working in skype

Hi im using unbuntu 12.04 on a packard bell imedia s1839 desktop computer. i can use web cam in Komoso but not in skype. cam use to work in cheese in 11.04 until i upgraded. skype did'nt work in either. have follwed all the post about this problem but nothing works. HELP.

If you run Precise in live CD, does the webcam work ok?

sorry im new to linux , dont quite understand about cd. web cam works with all other programs except skype, and cheese since upgrading OS to 12.04. cheese worked in previous version of ubuntu but not in 12.04. web cam works with Komoso
i have followed all post about LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so and LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/lib4l/v4l1compat.so skype and sudo chmod a+x/usr/local/bin//skype and #!/bin/bash LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/vl1compat.so /usr/bin/skype and #!bin/bash LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l1compat.so/usr/bin/skype. there are other things i tried but can't find the paper i wrote them down on . i hope this helps Regards Mike.

Hello,

If your web cam works OK then you need to set it within Skype. This is a Skype problem not one for Ubuntu.
