vodafone webbook unable to install skype

Asked by danialFACT

bought a vodafone webbook 3 days ago and would like to install skype on it.

once the files (i have tried all versions available off the skype website...) have been downloaded - the installation fails due to incompatability issues, including :incorrect version -i386, incorrect version -and64, etc...

how can i find out the version of ubuntu on the machine as i was under the impression that it was preinstalled with 10.04.

OR

what other voip program can i use, that will link to myskype profile?

no LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS
Release: 10.04
Codename: lucid

I downloaded all versions of the skype instal for version 10.04 and it tells me that the error is due to "incorrect architecture -i386"

Seems you are running an ARM CPU, not sure Skype make a client for Ubuntu under ARM. Skype is proprietary so the ONLY people whom can make the client, is skype

You can get text over skype (Like IM messaging) in Pidgin but the rest is down to skype purely.
