Can't sign in to Skype after 11.10 upgrade

 I've upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and Skype has not worked at all.

I enter my login, my correct password and hit the "Sign In" button and Skype tries indefinitely to sign in.

My Internet is working. Also, my sound isn't working but I'm working on solving it in another thread. Is this related to sound not working?

Can you give the output of:

apt-cache policy skype; uname -a; ls -a | grep -i sky

Too many other errors on this computer; I'm electing to reinstall.. thanks for helping..
