Skype: my audio is ok but can't config mic to be heard-headset has usb

Downloaded Skype for Linux - trying to config headset - audio is good - Mic is not transmitting my voice - have USB headset / not analog. According to System Sound settings: I'm running "Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input" - since my headset is USB doesn't my "Input" need to be digital also...??? Anyway - please, can someone help me to get my mic working...??? Thnx

If you use sound recorder, does it pickup your voice. Skype is an appauling test for anything. Stuff that works in other apps will sometimes not work in skype.

Look at Applications downto>Sound&Video>Sound Recorder click see popup click file see sound preferences try alert sounds like bark, get it by clicking the radio button, adjust slider for% age of sound.(Check enable window button sounds if you wish) In case no bark other sound emits do this>Click Hardware to see devices to configure viz default and HW like Microphone inbuilt USB Camera,default preferred.Next click Input to choose device for input.If you have Mic inbuilt USB Camera select it,Adjust Input Volume Slider to desired stage Make audible sound near USB WebCam or Microphone to see movement of "pips" on the dotted input level indicator.If you have got this OK your hard and software are fine.If not problem needs further Probe.Good Luck
