Skype video for conference chat.

Asked by Dylan Lawrence Moore

Using Ubuntu 11.04 and Skype 2.2.0.35 Beta.

I recently tried to do a conference video call with two other people, and while the audio worked, I couldn't get any video to work (I couldn't see them and they couldn't see me). The video works just fine for 1 on 1 chat, but option just doesn't even exist for more than that.

I'm guessing I've going to have to run something special in the terminal for this to work. Assuming the solution is this simple, what would I need to run in the terminal? Also, I had audio problems before and they were fixed with the follow line:

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype

Thanks for any help!

I suppose that you can't perform a video conference with Skype on Ubuntu. I don't remember why but maybe it's for the version that we have: it's too old.

Damn. Alright. So short of Skype coming out with a new update to fix it, there's nothing that can be done?

No, you can't do anything. I don't know if other programs support that, but you can try ekiga, maybe it have this feature.

Can't expect Skype to support Linux, as it is now Windows controlled.Why not try Google Talk for a change,adapted to Empathy???
